James Hudson Taylor

PH led an excellent study on the life of Hudson Taylor, Victorian missionary to China. He was remarkable for a number of reasons:

  • He went native. He dressed like, and lived among, the very people he sought to convert. This seems pretty obvious to us, but it was rather distasteful to many Victorians.
  • He lived by faith. No fundraising, no monthly appeals. He trusted God for provision, and God never failed him.

The notes we used and discussion headings are found here: http://www.martintop.org.uk/content/hudson-taylor ; alternatively, move across the main menu to Heroes of Old, and the drop-down will list him at the bottom.
