Shame on the RCOG

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) is having a vote this Friday to decide whether or not to campaign in favour of removing all legal restrictions on abortion. This would mean making abortion legal up to 7 months in pregnancy, and possibly, depending on how the law is interpreted, making abortion legal up until birth. Greg Jackson has emailed me saying:

RCOG are pushing for the removal of all legal restrictions on abortion, which means that abortion would be legally available, without any restriction, throughout the first 7 months of pregnancy. Furthermore, depending upon how the law is interpreted, abortion could even become legal throughout all nine months of pregnancy, right up until the moment the child is born! It is clear that the main proponents of removing all legal restrictions on abortion are intent on the law going in this direction and making abortion legally available up until the birth of the child.

Let me say that again: completely removing all legal restrictions on abortion would mean that abortion up until birth would be lawful – it would be lawful to kill a healthy and fully formed baby in the womb the day before birth!

It would also be completely lawful to abort unborn girls for the crime of being girls. This is what the RCOG are proposing!

Parliament will be under increasing pressure to legalise abortion up to birth as more of these medical institutions support this abortion extremism.

Please sign this petition to the head of RCOG Professor Lesley Regan, urging the RCOG not to adopt these extreme proposals.

Apparently, the RCOG isn't even allowing its members a vote on the matter. Shame on them.
