Tonight, four members of the church are supplying documents to assist with their DBS checks, the government-required checking for all who work with children and vulnerable people. We often complain about the types of laws coming out of Parliament, and this regulation is certainly not easy on the paperwork. Nevertheless, nothing is too inconvenient or complicated if it helps ensure our children are safe. Those working with children at Salem have to prove that there are no previous episodes in their lives that are likely to indicate a threat or danger to our most vulnerable members. Nevertheless, these checks cannot prevent attacks or abuse, and we remain vigilant.
