Red Sky at Night, Sinners' Delight
I took this picture of a red sky at night outside the chapel this week. On this subject Matthew says:
Matthew 16: Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; 3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.
'Red sky at night, shepherd's delight; red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning'.
We can indeed read the signs to predict the weather. Jesus said one sign will be given to wicked people that speaks of far weightier matters than tomorrow's weather- the sign of Jonah. Jonah was hid in the fish three days and then returned to land preaching his message. So this week we look to Christ's burial in the tomb and His glorious reappearing. This Easter is a sign to you. Do not ignore it.
