450th Anniversary: St Bart's Massacre

Let us remember before God the tens of thousands of French Protestants who, on this very night 450 years ago, were murdered, their houses robbed, their churches burnt. The mob butchered them, at their government’s instigation, to the Pope’s satisfaction.

And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, Lord, which art holy and true! dost not thou judge and avenge our blood on them, that dwell on the earth? Revelation 6:10, Geneva Bible.

There is nothing more dangerous than security….There is less danger in fearing too much than too little.

-Sir Francis Walsingham, the English Ambassador in Paris, who sheltered his family and offered sanctuary to fleeing Huguenots while the baying mob surrounded his house.
