Behold, I am Coming Quickly

I attended a meeting at Holden Chapel last night. It was led by some spiritually-minded young people (using this phrase automatically renders one middle aged) from Crown Lane who prayed, read scripture, preached, sang and testified. The good folk of Holden then filled our bellies with the usual pastries and puddings. Both spiritually and physically, we went home full.

Arriving home, I switched on the news to hear that a second natural disaster was sweeping through the Caribbean islands a week after the first; an earthquake has struck Mexico; Londoners are reeling from yet another terrorist attack on public transport. Meanwhile, the American President addresses the United Nations threatening to ‘destroy’ another country.

As this world grows darker and limps towards its demise, so the words of the Lord Jesus shine all the brighter:

And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. (Revelation 22:12)
