Cut-Leaved Purple Deadnettle

Cut-Leaved Purple Deadnettle is not an attractive name, but the plant is pretty enough. One might call it a weed for having sown itself in several of my containers. I have a fondness for wild flowers and was loathe to uproot it just because it had appeared without my permission nor by my trowel. Yet now it is all gone, for its leaves turned pale and it all died off. It departed as quickly as it arrived.

This reminds me of people who sometimes turn up at church. They arrive unexpectedly, cooing about how fine the preaching and reverential the worship. They are flabbergasted by the warm welcome and thank God for such a church within striking distance. And then they disappear as suddenly as they arrived; they found somewhere better. The cycle then repeats.

The Lord is looking for a harvest of crops, not a sprouting of weeds.
