DIY Morality

Woke DIY store Wickes has caused a storm at the Brighton Pride festival. Its shopfront and carnival float had upon them a number of banners, including:

The ‘no LGB without the T’ (ie no Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual without Transgender).

This is of course nonsense- transgender ideology negates the existence of lesbians and gays by saying that gender is fluid and a mere social construct. It is therefore impossible for one to be an objective man and be objectively attracted other objective men. The LGB Alliance tweeted: “We must assume that Wickes have not understood the significance of this slogan. They cannot seriously believe that lesbians, gay men and bisexuals may not organise in our own interests without the permission of trans people.” It added: "It highlights the dangers for businesses in parroting catchphrases fed to them by lobby groups."

At the end of last month, the firm had to downgrade its profit forecast due to a fall in like-for-like sales, according to the Retail Bulletin of 22/7/22. Perhaps if it spent more time selling things instead of posturing about sexual ideology, it would have greater revenue. In our world of DIY morality, even shops feel the need to hector us on what we ought to believe.

The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out. Proverbs 13:9
