Election 24: Environment of Hypocrisy
Sir Keir Starmer got some flak last week after hiring a private plane to take him from Wales to Scotland to attend a Labour election rally at which he spoke of his ‘green prosperity plan’. Hmm. Meanwhile, Mr Sunak took a helicopter from Devon to London, as it saved him ‘two hours’. Sir Ed Davey has recently been prosecuted for going at 13mph over the speed limit on the M1 near Cambridge. He explained that he was ‘super-busy’ (all reported in the London Evening Standard, 5/6/24).
So the three men who have been, will be, and would love to be, in charge of heaping environmental regulation on the rest of us are not exactly paragons of virtue. Who would have thought? Do not hope in princes: they only ever disappoint.
