End of the Cosmos

This cosmos I sowed into a pot back in the spring, but it only bothered to grow in the autumn and flowered in November. It is rather attractive, is it not? Yet it withered and became mush in last week’s cold snap. Cosmos is the Greek word which the New Testament writers employed to mean 'world'. Like its floral namesake, our world is not as permanent as we like to believe. It is not millions of years old as many assert, and it will not continue for millennia to come as others assume. Its days are numbered, and its longevity limited.

But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:7, NKJV
