Like the Feet of Deer

Wrote David in Psalm 18:

He makes my feet like the feet of deer,

and sets me on my high places (v33).

Walking to chapel late Wednesday afternoon, I saw prints in the snow which only a deer could have left. There were four close together, and over two yards between the next set. A deer must have bounded through the snow, eventually leaping over a fence. Those legs must have been powerful to allow such movement, as though they were powered by springs, not muscles. The Lord God of whom David speaks, enables His people to leap and rise from one high place to another. Truly, when our prayer is

“lead me to the rock that is higher than I”

-He provides both the destination and the means of getting there.
