Giant Rhubarb

This gunnera tinctoria or giant rhubarb I found growing at Muncaster in Cumberland. Its flowers, above, are not terribly attractive and its stalks cannot, I think, compete in taste with its smaller cousin, which Englishmen are inclined to grow in their allotment gardens. Rather, it is grown purely for its size; those gigantic leaves cause a viewer to wonder and marvel.

Our galaxy is 100,000 light years in diameter. The observable universe, however, contains an estimated 200 billion to 2 trillion galaxies. That’s pretty big. And our great God made it all, including that rhubarb.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. Psalm 33:6
