How to deal with an uninvited guest

I met a mouse on the stairs the other night.  I was just walking along the landing when I saw him, a shadow flitting across the edge of my vision.  At first I thought my eyes were deceiving me but then I found him, a soft, brown ball crouching by the skirting board.

After a short stand-off he scurried to the edge of the landing and launched himself into the air.  A couple of bumps and he was halfway down to the hall – and halfway stunned too, I should think.  Eventually I persuaded him to go all the way down and then out through the front door.  I considered leaving him in the porch - it was a cold night and he looked so tiny – but I thought of the havoc he might cause, and the relatives he might have living nearby, and out into the dark he had to go.

Sometimes there are things in our lives that shouldn’t be there – wrong thoughts, wrong attitudes, wrong desires – and the only way to deal with them is to be ruthless!

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:2-3
