Looking Up at Canterbury
One of the beauties of soaring gothic archutecture is its ability to make us look up. Often built on a grand scale, its geometrical lines shoot up and round, meeting together in pointed arches or fan vaulting. A traditional English cathedral, like Canterbury, photographed here, may eventually injury one’s neck, for all the straining as one admires the medieval builders’ epic design.
The Lord Jesus in Luke 21:27-28 speaks of His return:
Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (New King James Version).
The second coming of Christ seems as remote a prospect as ever it was, yet we are closer to it now then any former generation. Keep looking up, keep lifting your heads: He will return.
