This Night will they Fetch away thy Soul

The conspiracy theory industry will be working overtime concerning the death of British billionaire, Mike Lynch. Killed by a freak storm aboard his luxury yacht in the waters of Sicily, his colleague and right-hand man is on life support for having been run down in Cambridgeshire only two days before. Both had successfully fought the American government in the courts; both men are either dead or dangerously close to it. Allegations of sinister governmental manoeuvrings are already being made, but I shall give them no space here. Yet observe this: great riches cannot avert one’s death. The best they can do is pay for a grand funeral.

But God said unto him, O fool, this night will they fetch away thy soul from thee: then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? Luke 12:20

Those billions are now beyond his grasp; only what He did with Jesus Christ will have any import or relevance. While mourning with his family and praying for their pain, may we have a care for our own salvation. The sudden death that claimed him stalks us, too.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead yet shall he live. John 11:25, 1599 Geneva Bible
