Providence Raises the Humble

In the 1890s, Winston Churchill was a war reporter for The Morning Post. He was sent to cover the Boer War in South Africa, but once he arrived in South Africa the train he was on was ambushed and he was taken as a prisoner of war. Amazingly, Churchill managed to escape the camp, and over the course of several weeks, he managed to take trains back home.

Who'd have thought that this young prisoner one would day be Great Britain's greatest Prime Minister? Joseph, a slave, would be vizier of Egypt. David the shepherd would found Israel's royal house.

Providence raises the humble.
