Rosemary Grevillea

This rather exotic flower I observed growing in the North Welsh town of Prestatyn. It is grevillea rosmarinifolia, a plant known for its resilience to drought conditions, which makes its appearance in a Welsh flowerbed all the more ironic. Yet droughts sometimes come even to the lush wetlands. My family lived in one of England’s wettest counties- Lancashire- in the great dry summer of 1976. Times of plenty may soon become days of scarcity; times of joy may turn into nights of grief. Yet the Lord our God provides for us even during those times- nay- especially during those times. And in that barren period, we shall flower better than ever before.

The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11
