Six Geese

Six geese a-laying is thought to refer to the six days of creation. Never has so fundamental a concept been so rejected and despised: that God is the creator, and that He did so in days rather than eons. Not only does this rightly bespeak God’s awesome power and creative genius, it tells us that ‘it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves’, as the old hundredth psalm puts it. How apt we are to think ourselves the highest power in the universe. How we love to think we are in control, the masters of our own destiny. God made you, and God will destroy you, if you do not repent and call out to Him before the Judgement. If you do seek Him, however, He will remake you, giving you a new hope, a new purpose and a new heart. As Paul says:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor 5:17
