Sowerbutts' Sweet Lips

A number of us from Salem Chapel went over to Holden Chapel last night. Taking their monthly fellowship meeting was Philip Sowerbutts, vicar of Stafford’s Castle Church who has strong links with the Ribble Valley. He and his music group, consisting of offspring and church members, led us through a dozen or so hymns and worship songs. Fellowshipping with Christ’s folk is always a tonic to the soul, but worshipping Him in song together is medicine indeed. I had been feeling down all day and was uplifted by the good parson’s ministry. Some believers stay away from church when the going gets tough. The saints’ company is what we need, and offering songs of worship to God is what we ought to be doing when our joy is gone and are smiles faded.

Sing to Him a new song; Play skilfully with a shout of joy. Psalm 33:3

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. Psalm 98:4
