UFM at MTC

We were pleased to host Tim Howlett from missions organisation UFM this week. Missionary nights are helpful for a number of reasons, including their ability to make us look beyond our own town or parish. God is a global God and His Gospel is for the nations, not just the people in our district or those hard-hearted relations for whom we have prayed for years on end. Although he shared some almost depressing statistics about the scarcity of gospel witness in the Republic of Ireland and Italy, we were cheered by events in Iran and especially Mongolia.

The church in Britain is enfeebled and compromised, its people too lazy to even attend worship on a Sunday morning, never mind hear a missions report mid-week. Yet the Spirit of God is moving, working, drawing and convicting. His work here might be quiet and sometimes imperceptible, but across the seas, His doings are mighty and the gates of hell are busy, but not prevailing.

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” 1 Chronicles 16:31, NKJV
