United Selection 24

The international community quite rightly watches American elections almost closely as its own. The United States remains the most powerful nation militarily, economically and culturally. Once again, neither candidate is ideal: Mr Trump is brash and rude, though he is more sympathetic to evangelical Christianity. Ms Harris is charming and glamorous, but seems bereft of any substance. If the latter wins, it is thought that pro-choice female voters will have swung in her favour. At least American children have a major political party speaking in their defence, unlike here in Great Britain, where no major party is concerned by the unborns’ silent cries.

There are other issues, of course. Like every other Western nation, uncontrolled immigration threatens stability and working-class voters’ employment prospects. A belligerent Russia and ever watchful China are constantly seeking opportunities for their advantage. National debt continues to swallow huge amounts of tax dollars as the debt mountain must be endlessly serviced.

So as the world’s most powerful democracy elects its next head of state and government, the polls having closed one hour before the time atop this blog, the world will await the outcome with interest. Global rulers, of whichever position on the left-right axis, will answer to the great God, regardless of whether they accept His existence and right to judge. Those to whom much is given, much shall be expected.
