Winter Jasmine

A welcome winter sight: the long stems of winter jasmine. Though they appear naked, without any leaves, these bright little yellow flowers remind us that winter’s icy reign won’t last forever. One of its Chinese names is Yingchun, translated ‘flower which welcomes spring’. We are reminded of the next season even as the current one enjoys full swing.

God graciously provides us with tokens and foretastes of heaven, even as we pass through this weary world. The sweet fellowship of other believers, answered prayers and Spirit-filled worship are just a few. Winter is cold and harsh, but joyful spring will be soon upon us.

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Revelation 22:12
