1 Guide me, O my great Jehovah,
pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but you are mighty;
hold me with your powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
feed me now and evermore.

2 Open now the crystal fountain,
where the healing waters flow.
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
ever be my strength and shield,

3 If I tread the verge of Jordan,
bid my anxious fears subside.
Bear me through the swelling torrent,
land me safe on Canaan's side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to thee.

4 Saviour, come, we long to see Thee,
Long to dwell with Thee above,
And to know in full communion
All the sweetness of Thy love;
Come, Lord Jesus,
Take Thy waiting people home.

W. Williams

Oh, the bitter shame and sorrow,
That a time could ever be,
When I let the Saviour’s pity
Plead in vain, and proudly answered,
“All of self, and none of Thee!”

Yet He found me; I beheld Him
Bleeding on the accursed tree,
Heard Him pray, “Forgive them, Father!”
And my wistful heart said faintly –
“Some of self, and some of Thee.”

Day by day His tender mercy,
Healing, helping, full, and free,
Sweet and strong, and, ah! so patient,
Brought me lower, while I whispered,
“Less of self, and more of Thee.”

Higher than the highest heavens,
Deeper than the deepest sea,
Lord, Thy love at last hath conquered;
Grant me now my supplication –
“None of self, and all of Thee!”

Theodore Monod

1 Break Thou the bread of life, dear Lord, to me,

as Thou didst break the loaves beside the sea.

Beyond the sacred page I seek Thee, Lord;

my spirit pants for Thee, O living Word.

2 Break Thou the bread of life, O Lord to me,

That hid within my heart, Thy Word may be;

Mould Thou each inward thought, from self set free,

And let my steps be all, controlled by thee.

3 Thou art the bread of life, dear Lord, to me,

Thy holy word the truth that rescues me.

Give me to eat and live with you above;

teach me to love your truth, for you are love.

4 O send thy Spirit now, Lord, now unto me,

that he may touch my eyes and make me see.

Show me the truth concealed within thy Word,

And in thy book revealed I see you, Lord.

5 Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord, To me, to me;

As Thou didst bless the bread the bread, by Galilee:

Then shall all bondage cease, all fetters fall,

And I shall find my peace, My all in all!

W. Sherwin

Search me, O God,
And know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior,
Know my thoughts, I pray.
See if there be
Some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin
And set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord,
For cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word,
And make me pure within.
Fill me with fire
Where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire
To magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life,
And make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart
With Thy great love divine.
Take all my will,
My passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord
In me abide.

O Holy Ghost,
Revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival,
Start the work in me.
Thy Word declares
Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now,
O Lord, I humbly plead
