Christ is Risen Halleujah!

I am He that Liveth

Jesus Lives!

Jesus Himself Drew Near

Christ is Risen! -John Monsell

Christ is risen! Hallelujah!
Risen our victorious Head.
Sing His praises! Hallelujah!
Christ is risen from the dead.
Gratefully our hearts adore Him,
As His light once more appears;
Bowing down in joy before Him,
Rising up from grief and tears.

Christ is risen! Hallelujah!
Risen our victorious Head.
Sing His praises! Hallelujah!
Christ is risen from the dead.

Christ is risen! All the sadness
Of His earthly life is o’er;
Through the open gates of gladness
He returns to life once more.
Death and hell before Him bending,
He doth rise, the Victor now!
Angels on His steps attending,
Glory round His wounded brow.

Christ is risen! Henceforth never
Death or hell shall us enthral;
We are Christ’s, in Him forever
We have triumphed over all;
All the doubting and dejection
Of our trembling hearts have ceased:
Tis His day of resurrection,
Let us rise and keep the feast.

I am He that Liveth -Russell Hurditch

He dies! He dies! The lowly man of sorrows,
Oh whom were laid our many griefs and woes;
Our sins He bore, beneath God’s awful billows,
And He hath triumph’d over all our foes.

I am He that liveth, that liveth, and was dead;
I am He that liveth, that liveth, and was dead;
And behold I am alive for ever more,
Behold I am alive for ever more.
I am He that liveth, that liveth, and was dead;
And behold I am alive for ever more.

He lives! He lives! What glorious consolation!
Exalted at His Father’s own right hand;
He pleads for us, and by His intercession
Enables all His saints by grace to stand.

He comes! He comes! O, blest anticipation!
In keeping with His true and faithful word;
To call us to our heavenly consummation -
Caught up, to be “forever with the Lord”.

Jesus Lives! -Frances Cox

Jesus lives! No longer now
Can thy terrors, Death appal me;
Jesus lives! By this I know
From the grave He will recall me;
Brighter scenes at death commence;
This shall be my confidence.

Jesus lives! To Him the throne
High o’er heaven and earth is given;
I may go where He is gone,
Live and reign with Him in heaven.
God through Christ forgives offence;
This shall be my confidence.

Jesus lives! For me He died;
Hence will I, to Jesus, living,
Pure in heart and act abide,
Praise to Him and glory giving;
Freely God doth aid dispense;
This shall be my confidence.

Jesus lives! My heart knows well
Nought from me His love shall sever;
Life, nor death, nor powers of hell
Part me now from Christ for ever:
God will be a sure defence;
This shall be my confidence.

Jesus lives! Henceforth is death
Entrance-gate of life immortal;
This shall calm my trembling breath,
When I pass its gloomy portal:
Faith shall cry, as fails each sense,
Lord, Thou art my Confidence.

Jesus Himself Drew Near -Ada Habershon

Jesus Himself drew near,
And joined them as they walked,
And soon their hearts began to burn,
As of Himself He talked:

Draw near, O Lord, draw near, O Lord.

Jesus Himself drew near,
They were no longer sad;
When He was walking at their side,
How could they but be glad?

Jesus Himself drew near,
And all their doubts were solved;
He showed them why Christ came to die,
And what that death involved.

Jesus Himself drew near,
And at the journey’s end
They could not let Him leave them thus,
The Stranger was their Friend.
