Survival of the Wrongest

Have you noticed how the wicked seem to prosper? Those who hate God or even despise and neglect Him often do rather well in life. On the other hand, those who love Him and seek to serve Him now belong to the most persecuted group of people in the world. Even in the 'tolerant', liberal West, people who seek to base their sexual ethics on the Bible are deemed increasingly suspect and even dangerous by the godless majority. This sometimes causes God’s people to become despondent. Yet this ought not to be the case; God never promised us an easy, carefree life on earth, but a glorious home with Him in heaven. So let the unbelieving and Christ-rejecting enjoy their cars, homes and careers, for they have nothing else to look forward to. It is also worth noting that several of the Psalms, along with the Hebrew people at the time of the prophet Malachi, pondered the success of the wicked but the Lord's apparent neglect of the righteous:

“ ‘It is useless to serve God;

What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance,

And that we have walked as mourners

Before the Lord of hosts?

So now we call the proud blessed,

For those who do wickedness are raised up;

They even tempt God and go free.’ ”, Mal 3:14-15 (NKJV)

Such talk wearies the Lord. The meek shall inherit the earth, but not right now. We have a wonderful future in Christ: look to this and not your present troubles. Do not envy the wicked, for one they, they shall envy you.
