Apple Flower

This Apple tree (‘Margaret' variety) I found flowering in the old gardens of the Bishops of London at Fulham. Its flowers are pretty, but its fruit, which was cultivated as far back as 1600, are far better. As I write this I can almost taste the juicy bite of a good, English apple.

Some trees and plants are grown for their blooms, but not the apple, which is grown for its fruit. Remember that the Lord Jesus said it was our fruit by which we shall be judged, not the delicacy and daintiness of our flowers, clothes, airs and fine opinions. What fruit do you bear?

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Matthew 7:19
