2015-16 Church Tithe

As a chapel we decided we would tithe our income to charity, in other words give ten per cent away. We’re not a wealthy congregation, and we have the joy and burden of worshipping in a listed building with its running costs and astronomical repair bills. Nevertheless, the Lord loves cheerful givers, and we voted to donate the following, on top of our existing giving:

£200 Wyresdale Children’s Homes. A charity managed by Lancashire based Mervyn and Lucy France looking after orphans across three continents.

£200 to the Christian Institute, campaigning for Christian freedoms and standards in our own country.

£200 to the Gideons, who make the scriptures freely available in schools, hospitals and hotels.

£200 to the East Lancashire Hospice- our local palliative care centre.

£200 the Motor Neurone Disease Association- this is a terrible disease, and often over-looked.

£150 to Tear Fund, working with people affected by disasters in the developing world.

Deuteronomy 16:17 – "Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you."
