All Amazed

Life sometimes feels like one is trapped in a maze. We have a vague idea of where we should like to be, but not of the direction of getting there. There are dead ends and seemingly endless detours and we wonder if we are on the right path. Thankfully, God has promised to take us to be with Him, even though He seldom shares the route He has planned.

At Bolton Castle, there is a garden maze. It is much smaller than others I have seen, but the concept is the same. Yet for having climbed the battlements, I could see the entirety of the maze from above. Had someone been trapped within it, but had possession of my phone number, I might have given them clear direction. God, of course, is outside of space and time, and sees the end from the beginning, and all in-between. I do not trust my own sense of direction, nor my orienteering skills, but I do trust the One in whose hands my life and times are held.

¶ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own wisdom. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy ways. Proverbs 3:5-6, Geneva Bible
