Archburglar of Canterbury

“Archbishop of Canterbury committed to £100m slavery fund”, states the BBC, in a report about the Church of England’s continued determination to send a hundred million pounds to countries from which black slaves were taken to be sold in the New World some 200-400 years ago. Our theologically vapid, socially liberal Archbishop is determined to raid the coffers of the Church of England and send them to African and Caribbean countries to say sorry for the slave trade which the British Empire ended in 1807.

Here are some questions for the Old Dame of Canterbury to consider:

• Won’t she be compensating the descendants of those individuals who sold their neighbours to the white traders?
• Will she be enriching already corrupt governments?
• Is she aware that parish churches are crumbling and congregations shrinking, for which this money might have offered assistance and stay the decline?
• Is she aware that some of her own clergy serve 7-8 parishes and are run ragged for want of support?
• Is she aware that none of the people who will be in receipt of this money have ever been slaves?
• Will she be pressing for compensation from the Italians, Danes, Norwegians, Algerians and Moroccans for their own slave raids in Britain?

This bemitred woman will not bother with such considerations, of course. Her religion is all show, all mantra, all slogan, all gesture, all gimmick. She robs her own parishes in order to subsidise corrupt dictatorships, and rewards the black descendants of slave raiders by taking money from churches. Lame Sarah is known to be pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage and is now wishing to rob her own church of money which past generations bequeathed it for the sake of Christian witness in this land.

I thank God daily that I am a Protestant Dissenter, with no legal or institutional requirement to respect this malfunctionary.
