Atlas Cedar

This Atlas cedar I found growing in London’s Richmond Park. Originating in North Africa, it is likely a subspecies of the more famous Cedar of Lebanon. The latter is frequently referenced in scripture, especially on account of its great height. Biblical figures use it in their metaphors and figures of speech, while Solomon employed its timber for the construction of the Temple. Only two references I choose to share, however, that you might be encouraged thereby:

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars, yes, the Lord splinters the cedars of Lebanon. Psalm 29:5

And what does that booming voice proclaim?

"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon". Psalm 92:12
