Burnley's New Evangelical Church

On Sunday 9th August, which is close to Salem Chapel’s 210th anniversary, we planted a new church in the town of Burnley. Meeting at the CVS Building on Yorkshire Street on Sundays at 3pm, we sang, prayed and heard preached the first chapter of the book of Nehemiah. You are welcome to join us, though we are currently using the rear entrance on Blakey Street (BB11 3BT). There is parking available in the centre, side streets and the carpark of TK Maxx, which is about a minute’s walk, though next Sunday's football match at Turf Moor should make the situation more complicated.
32 of us began by singing Watts' hymn Jesus Shall Reign:
Jesus shall reign where'er the sun
does its successive journeys run,
his kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
till moons shall wax and wane no more.
Jesus Christ reigns in Burnley, and His honour there shall increase and expand as more hear the gospel and receive His salvation. We concluded the hour with Hart’s How Good is the God we Adore:
For Christ is the first and the last,
Whose Spirit shall guide us safe home;
We’ll praise Him for all that is past,
And trust Him for all that’s to come.
Please pray for us.
