Cherry Blossom
In Aireville Park, the Japanese cherry blossoms (prunus serrulata) are in full bloom. Big, blousy bunches of pink corollae, swaying in the wind, giggling and showing-off in the sunshine. Their opulence is as beautiful as it is short lived. A windy night may denude most of the laden branches, or within a week or so, the flowers will simply drop off quite naturally. So with the achievements and accolades of human beings; great while it lasts, but lasting it isn't. Writes the apostle:
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away. 1 Peter 1:24
When you see the rich in their shiny cars, big houses and designer clothes; when you see the powerful with their influence, popularity and great ambition; when you see the attractive, with ther gorgeous figures, chiselled jawlines and flawless curves- remember the cherry blossom.
