Great Stairs: Penrhyn Castle

The great staircase at Penryhn Castle is of a suitable bulk and sufficient ornamentation for that overwhelming Welsh pile. One wonders, however, if the destination can match the grandeur of the ascent? It can indeed; the decorated and sculpted ceiling is well worthy of the climb.
The Christian life, apart from its potential for persecution and Satan’s spiteful attention, is otherwise rather lovely. We have a hope unknown to others, a purpose for living, a secret supply of strength, a consistent and meaningful world view and a wonderful book to guide and direct. Yet the final destination makes it all the more worthwhile. If the staircase is grand, the top floor is always going to be better. So keep going.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Philippians 3:13-15
