Great Stairs: St Chad's, Shrewsbury

St Chad’s Church in Shrewsbury is one of the most beautiful and elegant churches in the land. As one enters, there is a rather delightful pair of curved staircases which admit one to the round gallery from which the service can be seen and the preacher heard. They are typically closed to the public, and I cannot gainsay whether they are open on a Sunday for worshippers. Nevertheless, whether one takes the left stair or the right, the end is the same.

From whichever location, class, school or nation we come, from whatever background we have enjoyed or suffered, coming to God through Jesus Christ will one day bring us all to His presence, without fault and without blemish:

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. Revelation 7:9

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25
