Hall of Memory

The Hall of Memory in Birmingham is a war memorial located in Centenary Square dating to 1922–25. That great city lost over twelve thousand in the Great War and there was a strong desire to ensure that their shortened lives were not forgotten. Despite the opulence of the structure, however, most of them are now forgotten, as well as their grieving families and surviving comrades. Even kings and emperors, feared and noted in their own day, are just now lists of names or less. We humans, on account of our inevitable mortality and fading memories, are consigned to eventual oblivion.

Except those in Christ, that is. The eternal One, whom death could not hold, promises to resurrect and eternally sustain all who come to Him.

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. Proverbs 10:7
