The Knowe

The Knowe is a peculiar historical site at Eskdalemuir in southern Scotland. It appears to be a round fortification, too small for a fortress, but surprisingly stout for a private home or farmstead. Dating to the Iron Age about 400 years before the Lord Jesus was incarnated, the people who lived here wished to defend themselves against rivals and to guard their food supply. Whether it was crops or sheep and cattle, the folk who lived at the Knowe were keen that others should not come and steal them, building large earthworks upon which were strong fences.
Securing the food supply is vital, and one which became more apparent in the First and Second World Wars when German U-boats were hindering the importation of grain. Spiritual food needs guarding, too. If you neglect reading the Bible and meditating upon it, if you ignore good preaching, preferring to spend time watching questionable online videos, while your belly grows bigger than your spirit, then your food supply has been compromised, and you are already made weak. Get in the know.
"He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; and with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.” Psalm 81:16
