Mango & Strawberry

I have previously written rather rude things about ‘fruit teas’, which are not technically tea, of course. Nevertheless, its varied flavours are 'growing on me'. I recently had a cup of Twining’s Mango & Strawberry. The taste is pleasant though I was keen to inspect the list of its contents, seeing as the company goes to some trouble to claim that the little bags are full of ‘all natural ingredients’. Although there was reference to ‘natural strawberry flavourings with other natural flavourings’, and then more ‘natural flavourings’, I saw little sign of mango (though oranges were well represented). Was the mango buried in all that anonymous natural flavouring? Doubtless, some fruits do not lend themselves to being dried, chopped and ground, such as a tea bag demands.

In some churches, people talk about everything but Jesus Christ and His gospel: politics, climate change, Donald Trump, Association Football, etc. Or they will talk about Jesus, extolling His remarkable teachings and lovely lifestyle, but will never mention His substitutionary death and resurrection life. Is He buried in some turgid sermon, or is He entirely absent, the church having departed from evangelical truth?

If Jesus is not the centre, it is time to leave the circle.
