Monsters at Lego Land

I shouldn't watch Crimewatch. I do, because I consider it a civic duty. Tonight's episode is making me feel angrier than usual. It's currently seeking information on the young man who sexually assaulted two little girls as they played at Lego Land. How dare he! How dare he ruin their childhoods?! I hate what this man has done. I almost hate him. But his Creator forbids me from doing so.

In Proverbs 6, we're told: There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Hating sin is seeing it as God sees it. It's not fun, it's not a lifestyle choice, it's not harmless. We all hate the thought of two little lasses being molested. We're less competent at hating our own sins. The reaction which Crimewatch created in me tonight is a hint of God's reaction to my crimes: pride, bitterness, envy. Mine may not be of interest to a British court, but they still break the laws of heaven.

I pray the monster of Lego Land is apprehended soon. I thank God that Christ apprehended the monster that is Me.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us - Romans 5:8
