New Street, Old Darkness

See how the shiny roof of Birmingham’s New Street station reflects the bright winter firmament so well that it can barely be distinguished from the sky above. Yet at dawn, the following day, when I went to catch my return train, it merely reflected the dim and tawdry lights of the street beneath.
All churches reflect light. Some replicate Christ’s, shining into the dim world around. Others just reflect the dreariness around them, copying, replicating and magnifying the world’s existing dullness.

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. rev. 2:5
