Purple Loosestrife

This is purple loosestrife, an attractive plant I snapped growing by the river in Thetford, Norfolk. In North America, where it was introduced, it quickly naturalised and became invasive, choking wetlands and crowding out native flora. So with all strife, purple or otherwise. Though attractive to those who enjoy stirring it up and carrying it with them, it causes more grief in the end. Says Proverbs:

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no talebearer, strife ceases. (26:20)

And

The beginning of strife is like releasing water; therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts. (17:14)
