Rosemary's Flower

I beheld some Rosemary flowering by my local war memorial. Its blooms, though pretty, are not usually noted. They are so small and dainty, and, coming in January, they can hardly compete with summer’s roses, dahlias and gladioli. Yet we do not despise the rosemary bush an account of its flower; rather we celebrate it for its aromatic leaves. Do not feel sad because you are not a good preacher, singer, administrator or host. Gladly allow others to outshine you. Focus on what you can do, and how you can serve. Excel at what God has called you to be and do, not at what He hasn’t. And if others are better at everything- rejoice with them.

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
