St Peter-in-the-Forest

The Church of St Peter-in-the-Forest is an Anglican parish church in north-east London. Close to the southerly tip of Epping Forest, its delightful name is a reflection of its beautiful grounds and location, even if a busy London road runs close by. Its Italianate style renders it rather charming, which, coupled with its arboricultural setting, gives it an enchanted feel. It had been a hot, sunny afternoon in spring when I called, and I was especially grateful for the drinking fountain which had been installed. So here we have a lovely, forest setting, with refreshment available: how good is that?

May all our churches, despite their architectural styles, building materials, locations and emphases, offer cool refreshment to the parched and weary, and give a sense of Eden restored to those who understand their exile from God’s good paradise.

"And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely". Revelation 22:17b, NKJV
