Checkmating Pawn

Unusually, in this game of chess against an online opponent, it was a humble pawn which checkmated the Black King. Unable to move away, and unable to take the little pawn, the game was won. What may not be seen in the picture above is the White Queen which, grimacing from the other wide of the board, protects the little one, not suffering her more powerful opponent to harm a hair on his head. I have never won a game of chess with a pawn before, and suspect I shall not do so again.

It is strange how our great God seems to delight to use the weak and vulnerable, the simple and foolish, for His great purposes and the dissemination if His word. Not the noble, nor the wise; not the seraph, not the cherub, but the plain and ordinary. We might one day find out why, but for now, let us accept the charge and serve Him well, weak and frail though we might be.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

“Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Is. 6:8, NKJV)
