St Wilfrid's, Halton

St Wilfrid’s Church in the Lune Valley village of Halton I have written about already, at least the tall cross which standards in its grounds. Yet within the building, there are more ancient remains. Grave covers, Saxon crosses, carved saints peering our from lidless eyes. How times have changed! How much more advanced we are! Yet our sinfulness and inherent fallenness is no better than theirs; the remedy for our perdition is the same as theirs: Christ crucified. Times change and people alter; and yet again, nothing changes.
