Calling Down God's Wrath
Hasan Bitmez, a Turkish MP, was calling down the wrath of Allah on Israel (and criticising his own government’s stance), when he received his own personal taste of God's judgment. He had concluded his speech with a reading from a poem that ended with:
'Even if you escape the torment of history, you will not be able to escape the wrath of God.'
Be careful when you call down divine wrath on others. God is no respecter of persons and, unlike a bad teacher, He does not side with the one who speaks first, or loudest. Thank God, the Christian can say that Christ bore God’s wrath upon the Cross - and there is none left over.
