The Prudent Hydrangea
This Hydrangea, found growing in Lincolnshire last summer, knows the time is right to flower, but it conserves some of its blooms for subsequent days. By carefully rationing its floral splendour, it ensures that it can flower for longer. Let us not expend all we have at once; let us put away and store for future days, future troubles, future trials. The ideal wife of Proverbs does not fear the coming winter, for she has prepared ahead of it:
She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
Proverbs 31:19-21, NKJV
