Coffee Morning Tea

I have always had something of a prejudice against ‘coffee mornings’. Gatherings for chit-chat or fundraising for the organ, or the roof, or whatever it was. Yet having seen one used at Hetton Chapel as a way of introducing the community into the building and getting the chance to meet church folk in an informal way has proved to be a useful ministry. Furthermore, I have little time to talk to people on Sundays; a queue of people wishing to speak with me forms if I am with someone ‘too long’ and there are always jobs to be done, before and after. To just sit back and talk to someone about their week or some situation on their mind was most refreshing. So fourteen of us gathered last month just to talk, and it was a blessing to all.

We intend to meet monthly on the last Friday of each month, 10am till midday, with people coming and going as they please. It might be a day of small things, but small is often good. You are welcome to join us in the coming months.
