Evesham Abbey Bell Tower

The old bell tower of Evesham Abbey is a fine construction which dominates the ancient Worcestershire townscape. It was a pleasure to call there and see this remaining link to the old abbey which was dissolved under the second Tudor monarch. Curiously, it is the fourth bell tower to occupy the site though certainly the grandest and soundest built. It therefore survives the destruction of the abbey itself, a lone reminder of its former greatness, its being a part of something larger and more powerful.

The individual Christian might cut a sorry shape, but he is part of something wonderfully large and fantastic: the New Creation. He has a place reserved for him in the great multitude of Revelation chapter 7. Whatever fleeting beauty he now possesses, and whatever greatness he once enjoyed, is nothing compared to the fabulous future he has with the Lord Jesus Christ.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9
