Flowers at the Castle

Shrewsbury Castle is awash with colour. Camellias and rhododendrons seem to giggle in the sunshine and sway in the gentle, spring breezes. Although the day was not terribly warm, these are the first such flowers I have seen this year. The old bailey must be a suntrap, enjoying a warmer microclimate than the surrounding land, though it is certainly warmer than the hills of eastern Lancashire.

Of course, I was thoroughly envious but consoled myself with some evidence of flowers which had already browned and died; the bushes might flower sooner, but their blooms finish sooner, too. Lancashire's flowering shrubs are still biding their time.

Worldlings are enjoying their pleasures now. Believers must wait, but the wait will be worth it, mark my words.

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work." Revelation 22:12
