Flying the Flags
In the small town in which I live, every lamppost seems to bear the Union Flag or the flag of St George. A general reaction seems to have taken place against the perceived dilution of our heritage, by 'wokeism' and population changes. I support the flags, though for want of proper ladders or cherry pickers, most are flying at half-mast, which seems even more appropriate, sadly. Although I am not a ‘nationalist’ in the objectionable sense of the word, I believe the scriptures when they teach that God divided the human race into nations between Noah’s Flood and Christ’s return. After the Lord comes back, we shall be beautifully united; until then, this God-ordained division is a brake on sinful ambitions. Little wonder Satan wants to unite the world under his choice of leader. So let each nation celebrate its existence and rejoice over its cultural achievements and distinctions.
Curiously, two councils (Tower Hamlets and Birmingham) have gone to some trouble to remove the said flags, while both hoisting and projecting Pakistani and Palestinian flags for their own purposes. Meanwhile in Essex, the County Council has offered its sensitive staff support in case they are offended by the increased levels of patriotic sentiment. Before one offers local government bureaucrats sympathy, remember that in June they had no qualms about flying the Pride colours; anyone unhappy with these flags was deemed to be a threat to the public good. So fly the colours of Baal and the symbols of nations and ethnicities connected to Islam, and you will be applauded. Fly the flag of England in England and the flag of the United Kingdom in the United Kingdom, and you are considered to be part of a dreadful rabble. To love one's own land is not to hate all others, but we in England have a goodly, Christian heritage, and for the past seventy years, it has been consistently undermined. Let us hope that this resurrection of patriotism will precede a revival of Christianity, without which the nation is utterly doomed.
And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.
